Jonathan Eldridge II is a Georgia-born pianist, composer, and arranger. While he was born in Atlanta, life has taken him to many places, from Swarthmore to Reston to Bowie to Pittsburgh and Philly to Charlotte to Aliso Viejo and finally Iowa City, where he currently works at earning his Master's Degree in Jazz Studies from the University of Iowa.
An occasional multi-instrumentalist, Jonathan has performed on trombone, clarinet, and bass guitar. He writes and hosts a web show called 3 AM Soliloquies where, in addition to analyses and discussions on various elements of modern game music, he also arranges and performs overdubbed versions of popular game soundtracks. Much of his recorded music involves him taking on all of the above roles, as well as writing lyrics, singing, and rapping. His first full-length album, Project: The REAL NEW, was entirely self written, recorded, and mixed.
In living in so many places, Jonathan has been exposed to just as many musical preferences and influences. Variety and range have consistently been some of his favorite elements in music. Although he earned a Bachelor's Degree at Morehouse College in classical music, he mainly does jazz, and has variously performed in R&B, hip-hop, Afrobeat, and contemporary settings as well. He works as a freelance composer, arranger and music transcriptionist, and his second album, To Win What We Learn For, expresses influences as diverse as funk, hip-hop, lo-fi, heavy and extreme metal, progressive rock, the avant-garde, and video game music.
While in Iowa City, Jonathan has played with a number of artists on the local scene, including Blake Shaw, Cole Peterson, Jim Buennig, and Damani Phillips, while continuing to work on his own projects, videos, and outside requests from his humble home setup
