Murder Ballad is a one-act, sung-through musical about a love triangle gone wrong. When Sara breaks up with Tom, a gritty bartender, she runs into the arms of Michael, a quiet poetry PhD at NYU. But after the couple gets married and has a daughter, Sara longs for her old, dangerous life and begins secretly seeing Tom at his bar downtown. By the end of this murder ballad, one of the characters is dead. But the show will keep you guessing all the way through about who dies…and who does it.
The original production earned both an Outer Critics Circle Award nomination for Outstanding Off-Broadway Musical and a Drama League Award nomination for Outstanding Production of a Musical. It was also nominated for five Lucille Lortel awards.
Murder Ballad will be the first musical to take the stage at Noce. True to the original off-Broadway concept, this limited, six-show run will be staged late at night in a bar with the audience immersed in the action.
