‘Nowhere With Love’ is a co-production between Max Wellman & The Des Moines Big Band. On the heels of their very successful run of Sinatra-themed concerts, Max & the big band embark on the renowned original music of Harry Connick, Jr., focusing mainly on the acclaimed albums from the early ‘90s such as ‘Blue Light, Red Light,’ ‘Come By Me,’ ‘To See You,’ the soundtrack from ‘When Harry Met Sally,’ & more. These songs were the first that Wellman heard as a child, convincing him from an early age to pursue jazz & the Great American Songbook.

Vocalist Max Wellman is enticing music lovers throughout the region. With a sound evoking the likes of Sinatra and Connick, Wellman’s recordings & performances promise that the Great American Songbook is alive & well for a new generation of listeners.
When Wellman teams up with his jazz trio or his Big Band, it’s an opportunity to witness his talent on a grand scale. Concerts like his annual ‘Home for the Holidays’ have become a cherished treasure throughout the region.
Over the years, Wellman has had recorded success with his ‘Comes Love’ EP (2009) and ‘Max Wellman Live with His Big Band’ (2010) was met with rave reviews, as was ‘You Must Believe In Spring’ (2014). He also routinely sells out his Songbook Project subscription service — a project that sheds light on dozens of treasured standards every year. Wellman has successfully produced concerts at many of the midwest’s gems, from historic Hoyt Sherman Place to the Des Moines Playhouse to the restored Paramount Theater in Cedar Rapids.
Coming off the release of his full-length big band album, ‘Just In Time,’ Wellman is serving as the first entertainment director at Noce, a state-of-the-art new jazz club in the heart of downtown Des Moines, Iowa.

The Des Moines Big Band was founded in 1959 and has been a driving force in the Iowa jazz scene (yes, there IS one!) ever since. Well known for hundreds of miles around, it has become a regular stop for touring artists such as Bobby Shew, Frank Perowsky, Dick Oatts, John Fedchock, Paul McKee, Richie Cole, John Mosca and Clark Terry to mention just a few.
